6. Before closure, scrutinize any adjustments, taxes owed and utilities paid.
7. Attend the closings.
8. Evaluate all the papers we are expected to sign.
9. Arrange for title insurance protection.
10. Make sure we get a valid registered ownership subject only to the liabilities we accept.
Our plan was to buy two properties, one to rent out and one to live in. We owed only $50,000 on our house. This was paid back after the sale was complete and we bought the house in San Diego to live in and another two bedroom apartment in Costa Mesa to rent out so we can have an income to live by. Two years down the line, we owe nothing to the bank and have ample money to pay all our bills.
